Living For The Routine

I think I can finally say I’m back.

This is the first week in a while I’ve been able to get content up regularly on the Blog, but it’s about to get better than that. Rowan has finally developed a sleeping routine which means I can start planning my time again. I’m actually really excited.

With Luna, she formed a routine at around 3 months and there were changes every few weeks, but they were gradual changes. Rowan has been completely different. Between being ill and having growth spurts, his pattern would change daily. When he’d like to eat, when he’d like to nap and whether he was going to sleep all night was anyone’s guess. But the past week has been different. His feeding is up and at regular intervals. He naps at regular intervals too, providing Luna doesn’t throw a wobbly. He’s not properly sleeping all night. Some nights he will and some he won’t, but that’s more to do with irregular pooping (of all the things he could no be regular about), and with the increased feeding that should sort itself out soon.

I know it’s probably a selfish thing to say, but I’m so happy to finally get back to doing what makes me happy. Yes, with kids you do sometimes have to just drop everything for a while and focus on their needs, but at the end of that, it’s just a relief to be able to focus on what you want again. Even if it’s only for an hour a day.
